JG University follows a structured, programme-specific admission and selection process based on the nature of the programme and the applicable regulatory and admission norms. Selection is carried out through ACPC merit-based admission, academic record, personal interview, entrance examination, or a combination of these, as applicable to the programme.
Admission to B.Tech. programmes is conducted through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), Government of Gujarat. Selection is based on the eligibility criteria, merit, counselling and seat allotment norms prescribed by ACPC. Accordingly, the University follows the ACPC-prescribed merit and counselling process, and no separate University-level interview or entrance test is conducted for admission.
For other undergraduate programmes, admission is based on a combination of the applicant's academic record and a Personal Interview conducted by the University.
| Academic record of the applicant | 50% |
| Personal Interview with faculty at the University | 50% |
The academic record provides an assessment of the applicant's prior academic performance, while the Personal Interview enables the University to assess the applicant's aptitude, interest, communication skills, motivation and suitability for the selected programme.
Admissions to MBA and MCA programmes are conducted through the ACPC admission process, Government of Gujarat. Admission is governed by the eligibility, merit, counselling and seat allotment norms prescribed by ACPC. The University follows the prescribed ACPC process for selection and does not independently assign additional weightage to academic record or Personal Interview where the ACPC process governs admission.
For other postgraduate programmes, admission is based on a combination of academic record and Personal Interview.
| Academic record of the applicant | 50% |
| Personal Interview with faculty at the University | 50% |
This process enables the University to consider both the candidate's previous academic performance and overall suitability, aptitude, motivation and preparedness for the selected postgraduate programme.
Admission to the Ph.D. programme is conducted through a combination of an Entrance Examination and Personal Interview/Research Degree Committee (RDC) evaluation, in accordance with the applicable University and UGC regulations.
Candidates are required to qualify in the Ph.D. Entrance Examination. Candidates who qualify in the examination are called for the Personal Interview/RDC.
The candidate's research proposal, research aptitude, subject knowledge and overall suitability for the proposed area of research are evaluated by a duly constituted panel. Candidates recommended by the panel are permitted to enrol in the Ph.D. programme.
Candidates who are exempted under the applicable UGC norms, including candidates qualifying through specified national-level examinations, directly appear before the Personal Interview/RDC. Their research proposal and overall suitability for the proposed research area are evaluated by the duly constituted panel.
Mode of Selection: Combination of Entrance Examination and Personal Interview/RDC.
Entrance Examination: The Ph.D. Entrance Examination functions as a qualifying criterion and does not carry separate percentage weightage.
Personal Interview/RDC: Evaluates the candidate's research proposal, research aptitude, subject knowledge and overall suitability for the proposed research.
Academic Record: Academic record is not assigned separate percentage weightage unless specifically prescribed under the applicable University/UGC regulations.
Thus, the admission process at JG University is designed to ensure that students are selected through transparent, programme-appropriate and merit-based mechanisms, with the mode of selection and weightage determined according to the nature of the programme and applicable regulatory/admission requirements.
